Rangers director Steven Gerrard hailed skipper Steven Davis along with also the referee’s assistant after Sunday’s 4-0 triumph in St Johnstone.

“It could have placed us under pressure late on but using our all-purpose application I felt we totally deserved the blank sheet”
Gerrard was thrilled to see that his side going through the gears after the period.
“First half we did OK and got to a few really good locations. But we didn’t have quality and it wasn’t linking in the last third. That was why we did not produce,” the former England midfielder said.
“We had one great chance with Alfredo however we need to try and create more.
“After the break we discovered our degree of performance. We had been outstanding in the
Second half.”
Rangers were fired by morelos forward and Gerrard is expecting his talisman has cleaned his act up after the disciplinary issues of last season.
“Alfredo deserved that goal because of his endeavour and desire. Against a different type of opposition on Thursday against Feyenoord he was unplayable.
“He is in good location, he is enjoying his football and he’s behaving himself. He shook the referee by the hand along the way off so he trying!
“He is a match-winner and I am really pleased with him.
“His overall game has been top drawer and it is why he has been called into the Colombian group (for next month’s friendlies). I hope he gets chosen.”
