French Soccer Federation president Noel Le Graet says he doesn’t need referees to disrupt matches if you can find chants that are homophobic, even though new rules this season that allow such fractures.
Ligue 1 games in Fine and Metz were stopped in a week of each other a month following discriminatory banner ads were observed in the audience.
A Ligue 2 match between Le and Nancy Mans was briefly stopped before in August but Le Graet, who’s about the FIFA Council, believes interrupting play is misguided.
“I wouldn’t quit the matches – totally from that,” Le Graet told French radio station France Info on Tuesday.
The French football league setup an action plan to tackle homophobia in its own stadium in May, with Ligue 1 president.
Asked if referees would accompany his request in this weekend’s games,” Le Graet said:”I expect so.
“We will make sure that there aren’t any longer (homophobic banners and chants). But stopping a game? – No.”
The president does not have the authority to teach referees to go against the rules that are .
Addressing the lovers responsible of the sinking, Le Graet added:”Do not return to the scene with banners, it is as straightforward as that.
“You can support your team, but [homophobia is] completely incorrect.”
The principles were publicly supported by French sports ministry Roxana Maracineanu, that said she had been”amazed” by previous remarks from Le Graet that”too many matches” was stopped because of incidents of homophobia.
