Belgium along with Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku says that he believes Serie A is taking action – and he wants the FA to follow suit.
The Manchester United striker was subjected to monkey chants in the audience through the 2-1 win over Cagliari of Inter before this season.
He responded with an Instagram post, in which he called for action – adding that’rather than going forwards, we’re going backward’.
Premier League players have also suffered racial abuse this season, with players such as Tammy Abraham after failing to convert penalties, targeted online and Marcus Rashford.
And talking over Scotland on Monday after a performance in a win for Belgium, Lukaku reiterated his call for actions in the ruling bodies of football.
“What I said was brief but powerful, everybody understood,” explained Lukaku. “I think Serie A is shooting action, I am trusting UEFA and FIFA is going to be next, and additionally the FA because lots of my buddies, they perform in the Premier League.
“They have been going through it also on social networking. It’s something that should happen as well in the UK, but for me personally I just want to focus on my performances”
