Daniel Ricciardo says that he had doubts about rushing in the Grand Prix.
Hubert died on Saturday after having a high-speed crash at the Formula 2 race afterwards Formula 1 qualifying ended.
Renault driver Ricciardo said:”You question:’Is it actually worthwhile?’
“Yeah, it is our job and it is our profession and it is our life, but also it’s still just racing cars around in circles”
Hubert crashed at the Raidillon corner, that the conclusion of the mythical Eau Rouge swerves at the top of the hill, that F1 automobiles shoot greater than 180mph.
Rush winner Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, who had understood Hubert since youth, confessed it had been”a significant challenge to close the visor and proceed through this exact same corner in the specific same speed you do the day ahead – but that’s what you will need to do at the ending”.
And the 21-year-old admitted that it had been”very hard” to delight in his first F1 win in the conditions.
Ricciardo said he was”happy the race was over”.
The 30-year-old Australian said:”I understand, reluctantly enough, the best manner we could sort of show our admiration was to race, but I do not think some of us really wanted to be here, or wanted to race – at the least, I am talking for myself, however I’m positive I’m not the only one.
“It was hard. It was tough to be here and attempt to put on a brave face for everybody.
“I know a whole lot of people in the paddock are hurting. I think everyone’s relieved it’s done and we can move on out and hopefully it’s the last time this stuff happens.”
McLaren’s Lando Norris, who dropped area if his engine failed on the final lap, stated he had had doubts.
“I did not feel good beforehand of the race,” said Norris. “What happened on Saturday could happen to some people. It might have been me racing in Formula 2. When you feel like this, it starts shaking you.
“Perhaps some people consider it better than others, however, I didn’t take it too nicely.
“At the conclusion of the afternoon, my job is to race to the group. Go on, I need to live my life and do things that I don’t wish to do. I wanted to race, but I felt sorry for everybody involved. I do not actually like talking about it.
“He was a racer like we all are but he was just the unlucky man. It was very unexpected, and something which is so uncommon, but in the identical time it could still happen in Formula 1”
Governing body that the FIA has launched an investigation.
Rush manager Michael Masi explained:”Safety is ever evolving. Different materials become available, once distinct technologies become available, safety is an evolving process. For me it is.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it: Safety is among the core columns of the FIA, part of the reason they exist. This was something that just won’t stop. We are going to continue to investigate and look at things and enhance items as best we could.”
